CfP Vol. 7, no. 1 (2026): Translating and Interpreting Society

This special issue aims to explore the dynamic relationships between translation, interpreting, and society. It approaches translation and interpreting as socially embedded practices that mediate communication, facilitate cultural exchange, shape institutions, and contribute to the circulation of knowledge, values, and ideologies across historical and contemporary contexts.
While we particularly encourage original submissions on professional practice and translator and interpreter education, we welcome contributions addressing any area of Translation and Interpreting Studies that aligns with the theme of the special issue. We especially encourage submissions that engage with current developments in the field and advance our understanding of translation and interpreting in society.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- translation and interpreting in institutional, public, and community settings
- professional practice, ethics, and social responsibility
- translator and interpreter education and training
- technological developments and their implications for translation and interpreting
- multilingualism, cultural mediation, and access and language rights
We welcome original research articles addressing the themes outlined above. All articles must be written in English and should not exceed 7,000 words. We also welcome reviews of publications and project reports related to the main topic of this issue.
